Valencia CF legend and current Valencia CF head coach Rubén Baraja marks one year as Valencia CF's first team coach. The coach from Valladolid took over the team on 14 February 2023 and achieved his first victory against Real Sociedad at the Camp de Mestalla (25 February 2023).
Just a year ago, Baraja arrived at the helm of Valencia CF to hold the reins of Valencia CF in a dire situation in the standings. 'Pipo' landed with the responsibility of being one of the most successful and illustrious players in Valencia CF's history, having helped win two La Liga titles, a UEFA Cup, a European Super Cup and a Copa del Rey in the 2000s.
With this perfect knowledge of the idiosyncrasies of the club, his effort and commitment paid off: he achieved six wins and four draws that served to turn the situation around. One year later, the situation is very different. Baraja's side are in ninth place in LaLiga EA Sports 23-24 with 35 points from 24 games played.
After one year in charge of Valencia CF, the coach from Valladolid has 19 wins (6 in LaLiga 22-23, 10 in LaLiga 23-24 and 3 in Copa 23-24) in 45 games in the Valencia CF dugout.
